Dr. Bright's Regional Tour.
NGC Chairman and Leader Toured the North and North-West Regions...Gives Reasons Why He Must Be Elected to Continue As National Chairman and Leader of the NGC Party.
The National Chairman and Leader of the National Grand Coalition Party, Dr. Dennis Bright has concluded his North and North-West Regional tour that commenced on Tuesday, 18th October 2022.
According to Dr. Bright, the targeted audience for his tour are the districts and constituencies executive members who would constitute the delegates representing their membership. Engaging the Falaba and Koinadugu districts and constituencies executive members, Dr. Bright expressed his appreciation and congratulated the twin districts for successfully conducting their lower-level elections and establishing structures from wards to constituencies, despite the numerous challenges and hiccups. He also commended Koindaugu who have also completed their district election.
Speaking to delegates, Dr. Bright said, “My message to you is short and simple. I am here to highlight to you my work for the NGC Party over the years, as I believe my work will speak for itself. And I believe that will help you make an informed decision to get me elected as your Chairman and Leader in the forthcoming National Delegates Conference” Dr. Bright highlighted his numerous achievements as the current National Chairman and Leader of the National Grand Coalition Party. He said, since the disappointment of the 2018 elections, when most party stakeholders decided to take the backseat, he as Chairman, has been able to grow the party in size and importance, making it the most performing opposition party in Sierra Leone. He said, in a bid to give more media attention to the party, his leadership was able to set up the SALON FOS NEWSPAPER to promote the party. He also highlighted that as Chairman of the party, he held about a Press Conferences, briefings and innumerable television and radio interviews, setting out NGC's taking position on national issues.
Dr. Bright continued by saying, one of his achievement as Chairman and Leader is the fact that, he has been a staunch advocate for the ordinary Sierra Leonean, through the cost of living surveys, which NGC has been tracking since August 2018, which highlights the inflationary impact of food prices and other essential commodities, and how these affect families on minimum wages. These surveys have highlighted the scale of hunger, affecting significant size of the population, as ordinary families struggle to make ends meet. He said that speaking about these bread and butter issues, makes NGC a trusted voice, in advocating in the interest of all, instead of the personal interest of political elites.
Dr Bright also informed the districts and constituencies members that as a party, for almost five years now, they have been able to maintain offices in all the Provincial Headquarter towns. He also spoke about the expansion of membership, particularly through support groups such as Tarmemko and Face to Face, who have been very instrumental in terms of recruitment for the party.” One important achievement that the National Chairman and Leader emphasised, was that the party has been able to maintain database of our NGC members in Sierra Leone. Every registered member of the party in Sierra Leone is in our database that can be easily accessed now. This is remarkable is it has only been done in the NGC party.
Dr. Bright also informed members that, he has been able to raise the profile of NGC by intensive dialogue and building solid relationship with the international community, saying that, the international community now recognized and respect the NGC party. He also said, he has been able to develop strong relationships with other opposition political parties based on respect and recognition of NGC’s potentials as a leader in Sierra Leone. “In my office, I formed COPPP,” Dr. Bright said. He also asserted that, all this while, he has been consistently promoting Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella as the only current political leader who can rescue this country. The Chairman and Leader spoke on the great sacrifice he has taken by challenging the government on national issues by taking to radio and television programs thereby becoming “Government’s enemy No. 1, exposing myself to extreme danger, arrested twice and spent four nights in detention at CID sleeping on the floor; currently under permanent surveillance but promised that, there will be "no retreat no surrender.” He said, he has been doing and going through all this for nearly five years now without a salary, despite having a family.
This was the consistent message from Dr. Dennis Bright delivered to executive members from Fabala, Koinadugu, Karene (virtual), Bombali, Tonkolili, Kono, Kambia and Port Loko Districts during his tour.
While engaging the Falaba membership, Dr. Bright used the occasion to foster peace among the two candidates who are contesting for the position of District Chairman. He promised to follow up on that and try to settle it once and for all, so that the Falaba district can have their district executive.
