Day 3 Update On Dr. Dennis Bright

DAY 3, UPDATE ON THE DETENTION OF DR. BRIGHT AND MADAM FEMI CLADIUS COLE

By: Musa Kamara

The Chairman and Leader of the NGC has been at the CID Headquarters since Sunday 3rd July 2022. SALON FOS MEDIA learnt that, the leaders of the NGC Party, including their Legal team are currently doing everything possible to secure the release of Dr Bright and Madam Claudius Cole.

A senior member of the NGC Party intimated to this medium that, the party unreservedly condemns the continued detention of their National Chairman and Leader, Dr Dennis Bright, who has been detained at the Criminal Investigations Department since Sunday 3rd July 2022, following his visit to CID, to stand in support with Madam Femi Claudius Cole, Chairperson of Unity Party, who had earlier been arrested by the Sierra Leone Police, using a disproportionate and aggressive use of force, which appears to be designed to intimidate the opposition.

To date, both leaders remain in custody at CID, after the Police has undertaken a search of the office and home of Madam Claudius Cole. The Sierra Leone Police has demonstrated a flagrant breach of their human rights as citizens of Sierra Leone, the senior party member said.

"Members of the NGC and the public should note that although Dr Bright was ill before his arrest, he and Femi remain in high spirits. Their detention is part of that long walk to freedom that must be made, to redeem our country from poor governance and mismanagement, which continues to blight and impair the lives of ordinary people, for which they took to the streets in protest," a member of the NGC said.

Giving his parting words to Salon Fos Media, Dr. Dennis Bright thanked all NGC Party Members and well-wishers at home and abroad for their "continuous flow of messages of support to him and Femi Cladius Cole at this challenging time,"

"As a party, we ask all party members to remain calm and law abiding. We are confident that their release will be secured, and he will join us very soon, thank you all for your patience," a senior member of the party asserted.
