NGC NA Chairman

NGC-North America Regional Chiarman, Alpha Omar Jabbie.

           REPUBLISHED!!

By Musa Kamara:

On the 7th September, 2021, SALON FOS Newspaper had an exclusive interview with the elected Chairman of the National Grand Coalition Party, North America Chapter.

In a bid to consolidate its membership base in North America, and have a well-structured executive, the NGC on August 15th held its maiden convention in North America, Philadelphia to elect their new executive members. Alpha Omar Jabbie, a long time Atlanta, Georgia resident and Business Professional was elected as the Chairman for the NGC North America with so much ease and acceptance from his opponents.

Speaking to Musa Kamara (Reporter SALON FOS Nerwspaper) on the phone from USA, Chairman Jabbie started off by expressing his thanks and appreciation to the NGC North America members for giving him the opportunity to lead that great chapter on behalf of them. When asked what he has done so far since he took up office, Mr. Jabbie said, “My first step has been to bring the much needed unity to the NGC NA.

I have ensured I reach out to all my opponents during the elections, and asked for their support. I called on them to work together, not for me, or the party alone, but for the whole of Sierra Leone. My victory is for the over seven million plus Sierra Leoneans back home that need change, and it is only when we put all other personal feelings aside and work together, then we can be able to achieve that much needed positive change for our people. So my first step has been to bring all members and NGC chapters in North America together under one umbrella and work together as a team, because I am an individual that believes in team work to make dream work.”

When asked about the support base of the NGC in North America, Mr. Jabbie was quick to respond that, “among all the registered political parties in Sierra Leone, NGC is the one with the highest members in North America. That I can boast of, and I and my executive members are poised to see that, that number is increased and the NGC as a party keep flourishing and gaining momentum in North America.

The current membership is fired up and ever ready to see that the NGC assume governance come 2023. This can be achieve if we as members do the necessary organizing early, we need to organize our people down there, I am appealing to our North America membership to work in line with putting strategizes in place early and work as a team.”

Mr. Jabbie went further by calling on the party national executive in Freetown to speed up the process of having the lower level elections that will lead to convention and elect national officers for effective running and dispensation of functions, especially the Public Relations sector.

When asked on his position if there will be a possible coalition with other political parties, Mr. Jabbie said, “Sierra Leone is too small to have 16 political parties. He said however, he can’t leapfrog the national executive on the possibility of a coalition, but I am an individual that believes in team work for positive outcome.

The NGC is a party that is ready to welcome and collaborate with any progressive individual or group in the country to move Salon forward. He said, Sierra Leoneans, devoid of tribal lines, regional lines or political lines need to come together and work in the interest of the country to achieve that common goal”

When asked for his comment on the recent Supreme Court ruling on the 2 Sims saga delivered on Friday September 3rd in favor of Dr. Yumkella, Mr. Jabbie said “it was a great day for our country, I feel happy and proud of that ruling, which was a landmark judgment delivered by the judges. This ruling has manifested further the continues fight Dr. Yumkella keeps fighting for Sierra Leoneans not only at home, but us living overseas. We should not discriminate, we should be inclusive, diaspora members are contributing a lot to the economy of Sierra Leone, and as such diasporans should be giving the opportunity to have a say in our country’s politics.

I am looking forward to see the possibility of Sierra Leoneans living overseas to cast their votes in elections.”

When asked of the possibility of the NGC party or Dr. Yumkella forming the next government, Mr. Jabbie was quick to say “absolutely, the NGC Party and Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella will sure form the next government in Sierra Leone. The fight ahead is daunting, but with the right strategizes in place, proper organizing, we will take office 2023.

Diaspora members are ready to support that course, we will be on the ground to campaign early, organize and talk to our people to see reasons why the NGC and Dr. Yumkella is the right choice for the country.”

He added that, “we in the diaspora believe this fight is not about us, but it is for our people, the seven million plus Sierra Leoneans living in abject poverty. It is a mission to save our people from the abyss of poverty.”

In his closing remarks to Sierra Leoneans, Mr. Jabbie called on Sierra Leoneans to do the needful and seek a better and more progressive change. He said “for 60 years, our country has gone through a lot, things are going from bad to worse. Are we going to continuing giving opportunity to those responsible for our backwardness?

For three and half years, what Dr. Yumkella was preaching against, is the same thing that is happening now, for three and half years, our country hasn’t got anything positive to point at. My fellow Sierra Leoneans, this is the time for us to step up and put an end to this, and save our country form the abyss of poverty.”
